SCB Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Scrapbook Challenges Blog Hop! You're going to have a wonderfully inspiring trip through the interweb with this one...we have a fantastic sketch for you and the new Design Team has done amazing things with it!  If you get lost along the way, just  click back over to SBC for the full list of stops.

In case we haven't met, I'm Chanell, the Sketch Coordinator for SBC.  This marks my fifth term here, and I'm loving every minute of it!  If you ever have questions about what we do or how it happens, just holler...I'm around the site quite a bit.

Seems this is also marks my {totally unremarkable} return to blogging.  Apparently, I haven't posted on this poor blog since, like, JUNE.  So, I'd love it if you wanted to follow me...and I promise to actually update content again!  Hahahaha!

OK, back to business.  THE SKETCH.  Is awesome.

I love everything about this sketch, done by our fearless leader Brynn Marie, especially how she layered the center bands.  You could do such funky things with that!  I actually went the "pretty" route with it this time, hauling out an old photo...

Love One Another digital scrapbooking layout by Chanell Rigterink Credits Digital Kit: Happy Celebration by SMJ Designs; Lace, Stitching: Shabby Sweet by BZB Designs; Alpha: Foam Stamp Alpha by Sahlin Studio; Sketch: Scrapbook Challenges; Fonts: Stamping Nico, Chanell's Handwriting

Look at those baby faces!  *Sigh*  These three are now 11, 9 and 7... Crazy.  This was a really fun page to scrap, though, and it fell together in a snap.  I love doing layouts that play on the balance of masculine (geometric shapes, dark colors) and feminine (curves, florals, pastels).

And now, for the *really* fun stuff: THE PRIZES!

1.  The HOP ON PRIZE for completing a layout based on the hop sketch and posting it to the Hop On thread at SBC.  Such gorgeousness...

2.  The NEW MEMBER PRIZE for one randomly chosen member who joins SBC this weekend!  Wowza!

3.  THE INSTAGRAM PRIZE for one follower and an additional IG user they tag. Oooh! Aaah!

Swoon.  I know you're excited now!  So, off with you!  Hop on, scrappers!  I can't wait to see your work in the galleries!

Your next stop is with Kristine.

Scrapbook Challenges Blog Hop

Welcome to our latest installment of the Scrapbook Challenges Seasons of Change Blog Hop!  I hope you're enjoying your little trip through the interweb...you're probably joining me from Jowilna's blog, but if you've just stumbled upon me here (or have gotten lost along the way), you can find the beginning of the train at the SC Blog.

We have a new crop of Design Team members joining the hop this season, so let me re-introduce myself.  I'm Chanell, a resident digi-designer.  I'm proud mama to (almost) five babies (newest due in March) and a very spoiled dog, and wife to a high school statistics teacher and football coach.  I've been scrapping since 2009, and I just adore being on the DT here at Scrapbook Challenges.  I hope you're enjoying your time with us, too!

Brynn has given us a fantastic sketch to play with for this hop...and the second we turned it into a double-pager, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it!

Even though it's snowing here in Michigan (in fact, my kids are all home from school today because of the weather!), this sketch was the ideal inspiration for a whole batch of our vacation pictures...from TWO summers ago!  Yeah, I've been procrastinating this one.

There were just too many good pictures from the week, and I didn't want to do a dozen individual layouts.  So, this double-page sketch, with space for as many as 19(!) photos, let me put get all our memories down in one layout! You can click to see it larger...

Snapshots of Vacation digital scrapbooking layout by Chanell Rigterink Credits Digital Kit: Garden Gate by Raspberry Road Designs; Stitching: Gunhild Storeide; Sketch: Scrapbook Challenges; Fonts: Turtle Club, Century Gothic

Ahhh.  It feels soooo good to have that layout finally done!

OK, so, on to the important stuff...PRIZES!  These are really cool...

1.  The HOP ON PRIZE for completing a layout based on the hop sketch and posting it to the Hop On thread.

2.  The COMMENTING PRIZE for leaving love at each of the DT blogs.

3.  The NEW MEMBER PRIZE for one randomly chosen member who joins SC between 1/13 and 1/15.

Holy schmoly!  Have fun hoppin' around this weekend and I hope to see you around the site!

Scrapbook Challenges Blog Hop

Welcome to another installment of the Scrapbook Challenges Seasons of Change Blog Hop!  I hope you're enjoying your little trip through the interweb...if you've just stumbled upon me here (or have gotten lost along the way), you can find the beginning of the train at Brynn Marie's site.

We have a new crop of Design Team members joining the hop this season, so let me re-introduce myself.  I'm Chanell, a resident digi-designer.  I'm proud mama to four babies and a fur-baby, wife to a high school statistics teacher, and crazy woman who is packing to move in a month.  If you would, kindly say a prayer that our sale is finalized, we find a new house and I stay sane enough to keep designing!  Hahaha!

Speaking of designing, Brynn has put together a festive little sketch for the hop, and it's been a ton of fun to work with it!

It was the perfect direction to take a little scrapper redo of one of the first pages I ever designed.  It has been one of those "great idea, poorly executed" layouts that has always kinda bugged me.  You know the kind?  Here's my new page using Brynn's sketch (you can click to enlarge it):

Summertime Toes by Chanell Rigterink Credits Digital Kit: NSD 2011 Designer Blog Hop Collab by Design House Digital; Photo Corner: Gunhild Storeide; Border: Doodle Borders by Sahlin Studio; Sketch: SS01 by Brynn Marie; Font: Vaguely Repulsive

Ahhh, much better.  I love how the layering turned out, and I would never have thought of it without the sketch!  Yay!

Ok, so, down to business.  Prizes!

1. For one person who leaves a comment on all the blogs in the hop, they will get the Salt Air Collection from Cosmo Cricket.
2. For one person who does a layout based on the sketch and posts in the HOP ON section, will receive a $20.00 USD Gift Certificate to Scrapbook.com.
3. For inviting people to join the group one person will receive a mix of alcohol ink goodies from Ranger*.
AND
4. One new member over the weekend will ALSO receive a mix of alcohol ink goodies from Ranger*.
*colors may vary.

Awesome, right?  Thanks for hoppin' by and sayin' hi!  I look forward to seeing your take on the sketch in the gallery this weekend!

Your next stop on the hop is with one of our new members, Eka!
Enjoy!

Scrapbook Challenges NSD Blog Hop

It's that time again...woot woot!  If you're anything like me, you've already been steeping in NSD goodness all week!

This year's Scrapbook Challenges NSD Blog Hop is extra special, though...it's also a time we're taking to pay an extra little tribute to our founder Pamela Young.  This is only my first term on the Design Team at SC, but I have very much enjoyed getting to know Pam's heart (not to mention working with her awesome sketches!).  She's put together a fantastic group of women over here, and it's a lovely thing to watch them come together each week to make Pam's vision become reality.

So, for the Hop, we're all doing oldie-but-goodie sketches...a blast-from-the-past, dive-into-the-archives kind of thing!  I've hauled out Pam's Sketch 192:

This one resonates with me mostly because of it's clean, straight lines.  I also appreciate a good mulit-photo sketch and any chance I get to throw a swirl or splotch of something into the background!  So, here's what I did with it (click to enlarge):

Think on These Things digital scrapbooking layout by Chanell Rigterink Credits Digital Paper: One Love Collab Kit for Haiti by Scrap Orchard; Brush: Fancy Edges by Mels Brushes, Ornaments by Mourista; Sketch: 192 by Pamela Young for Scrapbook Challenges; Fonts: Porcelain, Century Gothic

Ok, so...on to the PRIZES!

1. One member who leaves a comment on all the blogs & in the hop will get Chipboard Borders, 12x12 Collection Kit and a 6x6 Paper Pad from To The Moon by Fancy Pants.

2. One member who does a NEW a layout based on one of Pam’s sketches and posts it in the HOP ON section will receive a package of Tim Holtz goodies.

3. One NEW member over the weekend will get the We R Memory Keepers’ Sew Easy Piercer, 4 Piercers, a mixed assortment of Divine Twine and 15 colors of DMC Embroidery Floss.

Thanks so much for coming to visit!  I look forward to hearing from you!

Your next stop on the hop is with Rene'.
If you're just joining us, or get lost along the way, you can find the beginning of the line at Brynn's place.

Scrapbook Challenges Blog Hop

Welcome to the Scrapbook Challenges Design Team Blog Hop! If you're just joining us here, you can find the beginning of the train at Pamela Young's site.

Let me take a moment to introduce myself.  My name is Chanell Rigterink.  I was a finalist in The Next Top Scrapper contest, and I'm thrilled to be joining the Sketch Team for the new term!  I'll be one of the resident digi-scrappers...I've been so pleased with how inviting the SC community has been of me and my non-traditional work, and I can't wait to share more with you!  If you're interested in digi-dabbling, please feel free to ask me any questions!

In real life, I'm a stay-at-home mom to three sons, a daughter and a new puppy.  You'll definitely get to know them as you see my pages!  My fabulous husband of 11 years, Aaron, is a high school statistics teacher and my biggest fan (awww...).

Ok...on to the sketch! I just love this one. It was one of those times when I knew exactly what I wanted to do as soon as I saw it.  I love it when that happens!

And my interpretation...

Of course, the best part about Blog Hops is the prizes!  So, here you go:

1.  One person who leaves a comment on each of the blogs today will receive the new Spring Market collection from Webster's Pages, including the chipboard buttons and twine.

2.  One person who does a layout based on the Blog Hop sketch and posts it in the Hop On section of the forum will receive the Be Mine Collection from Echo Park Paper Company.

3.  For inviting people to join the group, one person will receive a collection of adhesive from Helmar.

4.  And, finally, one new member this weekend will receive some brand new stamps from Unity and Webster's Pages.  These things are so fresh that they haven't even been released yet, but I understand they coordinate with the Spring Market line (oooh, ahhh!).

Thanks for stoppin' by this weekend!  I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can over the new term!
